Abstract/Contents: | Responds to a question asked regarding Plant Breeder's Rights (PBR) registered turfgrass varieties. States that "the PBR legislation around the world varies slightly from country to country but they are all linked to the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) convention on plant patents." Lists the requirements for a plant to earn registration: "that there is demonstrable difference clearly shown in the variety from other commercial varieties; [and] that the variety is stable." Discusses the application process for registering a PBR variety and obtaining a Plant Variety Rights (PVR) patent. |
