Abstract/Contents: | Recommends soil testing to determine the number of insects present in turf as a means of gauging the proper response. Discusses checking turf to identify insect problems, recommending to "consider the life cycle of each pest when determining the best time to sample." States that "determining a treatment threshold involves consideration of many factors: the use of the site, the species of turf grown, the maintenance level provided for the turf and the resources available for control." Suggests adjusting thresholds for expectations, microclimate, turf species, time of year, turf establishment, and maintenance practices. |
