| Abstract/Contents: | Provides results of various tests made on the new turf-type, pasture-type and experimental tall fescues. Tests were run on mowing height quality with grasses compared at 1 1/2" and 3/4" mowing heights. At the high cutting height, the turf-type tall fescues performed significantly better than 'Clemfine', the pasture-types, or the three experimental grasses. The turf-type tall fescues had better color, better resistance to crabgrass invasion, and better resistance to rust activity than the pasture-type tall fescues. These characteristics, plus their better density and texture, resulted in the superior appearance of the four turf-type tall fescues. Additional charts report color, density, rust incidence, and crabgrass invasion comparisons. |
