| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the conversion of turfs from Kentucky bluegrass to Riviera bermudagrass, which can "offer exceptional cold tolerance and high turf quality" in addition to its ability to "rapidly recouperate from summer wear and easily tolerate prolonged periods of drought, high temperatures, and irrigation with lower-quality water." Suggests that "by developing methods to convert cool-season turfgrasses to improved, seeded bermudagrass, [turf managers] can possibly improve playing conditions while decreasing inputs of water and chemicals." Reports that "it appears...non-disruptive treatments might slowly but surely lead to an appreciable amount of Riviera bermudagrass over two-plus seasons of growth." States that "strip-kill methods can be used more aggressively to achieve complete bermudagrass cover without decreasing turfgrass quality appreciably or limiting use of the turf area." |
