Abstract/Contents:Details the process of Soil Electrical Conductivity (EC) mapping. States that it "is the most common geophysical survey used with agriculture and horticulture. The use of soil EC mapping technology has been extensively researched in agriculture." Lists porosity, volumetric water content, salinity, temperature and phase of pore water, and soil structure as factors that affect soil EC. Discusses surveys using EC and reports that "on large green-field sites, such as a new golf course development, spatial varitations in soil properties affecting drainage characteristics are more likely to occur." Also discusses the applications of EC testing in sports turf assessments. Concludes that "the use of soil EC to determine uniform management areas and direct soil profile pit excavation for green field sites may also be [an]...option."
