| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses methods of acquiring new equipment. Discusses the cost of cash purchases, installment loans, and leasing equipment. States that "equipment that is likely to update faster than you could pay off the loan lends itself to leasing. Products, such as portable power equipment, that will wear out before the loan term ends, are better suited for cash purchase. Longer-lived, less frequently used machines, such as compact tractors, aeration or reel-grinding equipment, are a better value if placed on a lease purchase or installment contract." Concludes that "if you think a new method of acquiring equipment would be beneficial, try it out. You do not have to convert your entire system. In fact, for many courses, the best answer is probably a combination of at least two of the above financing options." |
