| Question: | "Our greens show quite a bit of moss due to foggy, damp, soft weather during the past few months. The cold period has just begun and we wonder if we should attempt to control the moss during the winter." |

| Answer/Response: | "We do not think it is worthwhile doing much about the moss at present. It is not really the right sort of weather and more moss may come in during the next two months. We suggest you wait until about the end of February or early Match and select a spell of dry, sunny weather in which to carry out moss control. A mercurised moss killer may then be evenly applied over the mossy areas, care being taken not to put too much on and in accordance with the manufacturers' directions. The mosskiller will "burn" the moss and since there is a fertilizer in it this will help encourage the grass to grow in where the moss has been killed." |
