Question: | "Our Greens Committee is considering the question of resting greens. We would like your general advice as to whether or not it is a good practice to work a rotation of resting greens during the winter of each year." |
Answer/Response: | "There are some advantages in resting greens but we are not in favour of it unless in an emergency. Golf greens are meant for use. What we do suggest is that in very poor winter weather a hole be cut in the approach so as to protect the actual green and, therefore, taking a long term view the approaches should be improved sufficiently for the purpose." |
