Abstract/Contents:Discusses water shortages in the South Eastern United Kingdom in 2006. States that "the first drought order by Sutton and East Surrey Water Company will affect 58 golf courses, 363 playing fields, 171 sports grounds, 56 recreation grounds and 25 parks...Even sports and golf clubs with their own boreholes and water storage facilities are affected as they come under the auspices of the Environment Agency (EA)." Explains that "golf courses with USGA [United States Golf Association] spec [specification] greens will dry out quickly, with the older more established courses faring better." Includes a water crisis checklist for grounds and suggests to "draw up a schedule to identify areas requiring water."
