| Abstract/Contents: | Details the construction of Cardinal Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, which was the first moveable field system built in the United States. Discusses the development of field prototypes, stating that "the multiple procedures and areas of testing led to the development of the final specs for the project." Explains that "in the final design, the moveable field tray is constructed of large steel I-beams bolted together in a grid pattern and topped with metal decking. The concrete layer is above that, and a 15-by-18-inch metal header runs around the outside. This system is supported on steel wheels that roll on rails similar to those on a train."
