Abstract/Contents:"Research was initated to determine the response of twelve C4 turfgrass species to six levels of salinity. Grasses were grown hydroponically, with treatments designed to simulate ocean water intrusion into fresh water irrigation sources. Measurements include: visual ratings, whole-plant ion accumulation and partitioning, osmotic adjustment and associated turgor maintenance, tissue succulence, dry weight accumulation and partitioning, and soluble carbohydrate and proline synthesis. Preliminary results indicate a wide range of susceptibility to salinity."
