States that "as New Jersey towns became more urbanized, the Green Acres program was created in 1961 to buy land to protect environmentally sensitive open space, water resources and other significant natural and historic open space. Land acquired by Green Acres becomes part of the statewide system of parks and forests, wildlife management areas and natural areas." Lists several New Jersey golf courses purchased by the state as part of the Green Acres program, including The Cream Ridge Golf Club, White Oaks Country Club, and the Ponderlodge Golf Club.
