Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the effects extreme climatic conditions can have on turfgrass. States that "in periods of high climatic stress - and this is almost always linked to long periods of high temperature and humidity - carbohydrate production drops to the point where it is used faster than produced." Mentions that "courses cannot be closed through high-stress periods, so wear cannot be avoided and can only be mitigated by the potential to change holes frequently and increase the height of cut before plant stresses occur." Concludes that "when renovation is inadequate and extreme climatic conditions persist, turf health suffers." |
