Abstract/Contents:Discusses wastewater use, stating that "heavily populated urban areas in the northern part of the country could utilize a golf course as an infiltration basin to remove nutrients and other contaminants found in [the] waste system." States that "golf course managers are not the obstacles to the increased use of wastewater in the northern part of the [United States]...[and] management practices were influenced greatly by wastewater use." Explains that "there will be safety issues that must be addressed in the treatment and distribution of wastewater on golf courses." Describes potential technical issues, including rainfall. Suggests that superintendents "start by working with...local communities to discuss ways of financing the infrastructure to deliver the water." Concludes that "promoting the use of wastewater in non-traditional areas will find a coalition of the willing."
