Abstract/Contents:Discusses innovations in golf course technology. States that "innovations designed for use by golf course superintendents often come to the marketplace before they are thoroughly understood." Discusses electric mowers, stating that "it is likely that alternative-power reel mowers, especially electric mowers, slowly will continue to make inroads into the golf turf market." Also mentions coring, stating that "innovations include high-speed core cultivation units that speed up the coring process." Concludes that "innovations in any industry typically are not fully understood upon first entering the market. The consumer often drives innovation, and research is left to determine the product's best use, when in reality it should be the other way around so innovations are not misused and discarded before their real benefits are realized."
