Abstract/Contents:Discusses how Jack Tone Golf in Ripon, California has seen a lot of rain, creating a "lake" on much of the course. States that "heavy rains...have caused mudslides, flooding and power outages throughout Northern California, prompting [Governor] Arnold Schwarzenegger in April [2006] to declare a state of emergency in 16 counties." Describes how "conditions could get worse before they get better" and how "when the flow [of the Stanislaus River] reaches a certain speed or height, it permeates the soil and comes through a portion of the golf course." Discusses possible solutions to fix this problem, including "[hiring] an outside contractor to aerate with the PlanetAir system, which is less disruptive than traditional methods." Concludes that "after all the rains, it tends to compact everything...so [they] needed to open up the soil to get some air in there."
