Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the municipal golf courses in Fargo, North Dakota that flooded in April of 2006. States that "Ninety-five percent of [Edgewood Golf Course] was under water" and explains that "cleaning off silt left behind by the floodwaters and allowing the course to dry were expected to push Edgewood's opening back at least a month." States that "flooded golf courses in [the Fargo area] are nothing new. Many are built in a floodplain." Suggests that "the turf [in Fargo] won't survive another summer flood. The all-time record is 40.1 feet. If [they] get that again, the whole town is in trouble." Concludes that "[they'll] get [the silt] off the green, and in some areas where it's not bad [they'll] let it dry and rake it off. But the green is the most important. Once it's dry, [they'll] probably topdress it." |
