Abstract/Contents: | Discusses "two trends that surfaced in the 1990s [that] showed the promise to 'save golf' and fuel growth of the game in future generations." States that "the first was the Tiger Woods Effect. Woods' dominance, appeal and diverse ethnic background were expected to combine to draw, like a magnet, people from equally diverse backgrounds into the game." Explains that "the Tiger Woods Effect was based on a flawed assumption...the graying of America, still is developing, but probably will fall short of expectations." Predicts that "as a result of the aging baby boomer generation, it appears that more than half of all rounds played in the United States from 2010 to 2015 will be by those age 55 and older." |
