| Question: | "Further to your recent advisory visit and confirmatory report, can you tell us why we must do the slit drainage (over the original pipe drainage) during the actual cricket season? Can we not wait until cricket is finished?" |

| Answer/Response: | "Usually this would be quite feasible but, from what we were told at the time of the visit, your outfield would be too wet to do the slit drainage (50 mm (2 in.) slit drains filled with sand over gravel) in the autumn. If the outfield was wet (and therefore soft) when the work was done, the equipment used to do it would damage the surface excessively. You will just need to organize the work in the summer in such a manner that the outfield may be "cleaned up" to allow for week-end play, but until the work is finally completed any mid-week matches will have to be played away from home." |
