| Question: | "Your comments on the enclosed sample of clinker the contractor proposes to use as porous aggregate for the hockey/tennis area would be appreciated." |

| Answer/Response: | "The clinker ash is not satisfactory for the foundation layer on the hard porous hockey/tennis area. The Specification calls for a material of 3 in. to 3/4 in. gauge and our tests show that 60% of the sample passes through a 3/4 in. sieve. The ash could of course be screened through a 3/4 in. gauge screen but there would be a great deal of waste. The material held on the screen would be used to form the foundation layer, this being blinded with 1 in., no more, of the fines." |
