| Question: | "On our extensive winter games area, pitches have to be very carefully sited to get them all in. How do you suggest we mark the corners of the pitches so that they do not have to be re-surveyed each year? We find that pegs get knocked down during the summer no matter how careful the tractor driver is." |

| Answer/Response: | "A fairly common practice is to mark the pitch for the first time each season with creosote which, of course, burns the grass and leaves a semi-permanent mark. The groundsmen then mark out on succeeding occasions with a lime wash. If you are not keen on having these lines showing up in summer on what becomes cricket outfield, you could mark a yard each side of the corner positions for each pitch with creosote. If this were done at the end of the playing season it would be simple to find the corner points in the autumn." |
