Question:"The enclosed sample of turf shows damage with which we are unfamiliar. Would you examine it and recommend control measures."
Answer/Response:"We find the turf is attacked by a fungal parasite, a species of Curvularia. The common name for this is Fading Out disease in the U.S.A., and it is generally confined to warmer climates. Good management is important in its control, e.g. keeping mat and thatch to a minimum. The fungicide Brassicol 50% used at the rate of 9 oz. per 100 sq. yds. will give control, and the treatment should be repeated every seven days as necessary."
