| Answer/Response: | "Unfortunately there is no weedkiller which will selectively remove this weed grass and leave other desirable species undamaged. The only positive way of eliminating the offending patches is to remove them and re-lay the areas with clean turf. Other than this, all that can be done is to scarify the areas heavily, particularly in spring and autumn with a view to fining down the existing Yorkshire fog and so in time eliminating it. This species has a longer growing period than the finer and more desirable species and hence tends to make growth (and therefore to be more conspicuous) in the winter when the finer grasses are almost dormant. The courts should be kept topped occasionally to prevent it from growing away." |
