Question: | "The enclosed sample of a tufted wiry grass is spreading on our fairways and adversely affects the lie of the ball. What can we do about it?" |
Answer/Response: | "The grass has been identified as a species of Panicum. We suggest you obtain one of the larger mechanically propelled scarifiers recently introduced. Regular use of the unit will fine the grass down, if not controlling it completely. Probably two reels for the unit would be useful, one having a pitch of 1 ½ in. could be used on the fairways whilst the other with a 1 in. pitch could be reserved for the greens." |
