| Question: | "Can you advise us on use of our hard porous pitch during and after frost, and whether the use of salt would have any harmful effect on it." |

| Answer/Response: | "Provided the pitch surface has been restored by brushing and rolling before the frost it could be used, though the players may find it rather hard. When the surface starts thawing out it will be too soft and sticky for play and you must wait before using it again until conditions are dry enough to enable you to carry our rolling and re-firming. We are unaware of any experimental evidence one way or the other about the long term results of using salt on your type of pitch but we do know of several areas that have been treated over a number of years without apparent ill effect." |
