Question:"In Cairo some difficulty is being experienced in maintaining lawns surrounding a government building and we would like to know the correct grass species to use."
Answer/Response:"A suitable grass to use is Cynodon transvaalensis. This is planted vegetatively and with adequate feeding and watering soon colonizes the ground. Research is being done on Cynodon in Egypt and we understand the grass can be obtained locally. You will require to carry out weed control occasionally and under proper maintenance a satisfactory lawn should develop."
