| Abstract/Contents: | Announces the formation of "the 2006 Board Self-Governance Policies Review Task Group" of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). States that the task group was formed "in the wake of criticism about how its board members spend association money on travel...to review the standard operating procedures of how the board conducts business." Reports that "the GCSAA's decision to assemble an oversight committee came [in] August [2005] at its annual summer meeting." Mentions member concerns, including "a per-event memorabilia spending allowance of $200"; "paying for spouses of board members to attend some...events"; and "an honorarium the immediate past president receives when he exits the board...about $10,000." States that "the GCSAA...wants members to have the opportunity to serve on the board regardless of a club's economic status. That would not be possible if [this] process were not in place...In order to be at that level (with peers) there needs to be some spending." Also states that "just because something is in the budget doesn't mean that money always is spent." |
