Abstract/Contents:Discusses the effect of heavy rainfall on Hawaiian golf courses between Februrary 19 and April 1, 2006. Since then, Hawaii recorded 42 days of rain through April 1 [2006]." Reports that "the city and county of Honolulu, which owns six courses, has lost $220,000 in revenues from green fees and cart charges...[and] hardest hit has been Pali Golf Course in Kaneohe, on the eastern side of Oahu. The course has received so much rain that it has been forced to close on 10 occasions." Reports that "there's nothing like a good rain to flush out the turf. But like anything in life, too much of a good thing can result in bad conditions...[Superintendents] immediately began to notice spots and outbreaks of fungus...The turf crew has been working overtime spraying fungicides and growth retardants."
