Abstract/Contents: | Discusses Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) board spending and the task force established to investigate and regulate board spending. States that "service to the association should not be a financial burden to members willing to serve, and there's no question that without some of the provisions some thoughtful and dedicated people would be excluded because they work at smaller facilities on limited incomes." Concludes that "it might be that some have taken advantage of existing policies. If appropriate accountability is not in place, this should be addressed. At face value, however, most of what's specified in the policies is reasonable and conservative. What the task force might find is that other associations truly are extravagant in their spending for board members, which would be reassuring to those in the GCSAA who have raised concerns." |
