Abstract/Contents: | Profiles Bob and Joycelyn Ford, owners of Sanctuary Golf Club in Brandon, Mississippi. States that "the couple donated thousands of dollars worth of food and spent days cooking meals for [Hurricane Katrina] evacuees who fled their homes for Jackson's Mississippi Coliseum." Explains that "the Fords emptied freezers at their home and golf course. They took 1,500 pounds of food and the club's smoker to the coliseum, where they helped cook lunch and dinner for evacuees for...16 days." States that "the Fords even helped coordinate a wedding in the coliseum on Sept. 3 [2005] after they learned that two of the evacuees from New Orleans [Louisiana] were forced to delay their planned Aug. 28 [2005] nuptials." Concludes that the Fords "wanted to convey to those people...that in all this chaos, there is still hope." |
