| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of effluent water as a potential source of irrigation water for golf courses. States that "Dominic Morales, Ph.D., dean of applied science and recreation at the State University of New York [SUNY] - Delhi is spearheading the program, which should spread considerable light on irrigation with effluent water, the pollution of watersheds and a host of other golf course-related issues" and "one of the questions Morales hopes to answer is whether irrigating with effluent can be harmful to the environment." Details mehtods used in the study, stating that "last spring the school's golf course operations and turf management programs constructed a water quality test site on a 2-acre tract located near the practice range of the Dehli College Golf Course." Mentions that "the water quality insitute will explore the environmental impact of overall development in the Delaware River Basin, not just the effects of golf courses." Concludes that "the whole idea is to demonstrate to [the] students, because they are the future of the industry, how to be bettwer water managers, not just through research but through application." |
