Abstract/Contents:Discusses a restoration project at Trump National Los Angeles in California that helped increase the population of the gnatcatcher, a threatened bird species. States that "the gnatcatcher, a diminutive gray bird that weighs less than 6 grams and never migrates from its habitat, once dominated the Southern California coast...but development and agriculture wiped out 90 percent of the vegetation, pushing the gnatcatcher to near extinction." Reports that "after a nearly 10-year restoration project that cost an estimated $4.37 million, 15 breeding pairs of gnatcatchers have been counted on the course and more than 205 fledglings have been raised there." Concludes that the project has "been very successful. However, time will be the ultimate judge on how well the gnatcathcer population comes back."
