Abstract/Contents:Discusses ways to effectively overseed and transition more efficiently. States that "turf selection and establishment are the keys to effective overseeding, and there is research to help." Discusses the use of ultradwarfs which have "a finer blade, more upright growth and the ability to achieve low mowing heights," and explains that these grasses "also require new thinking in overseeding. The high shoot density and apparent increase in stolon production associated with the...ultradwarfs also produces more thatch." Briefly discusses how management of ryegrass affects transition. Concludes that "overseeding Bermudagrass turf is showing no signs of waning. Enhancing performance of the existing surface, creating a desirable but disposable surface and transitioning back to the Bermudagrass surface requires an understanding of the turf species. Choose wisely."
