| Abstract/Contents: | "The importance of maintaining the impeller level when operating a rotary spreader has long been known, but the magnitude of angular error that would cause pattern problems with a professional walk-behind turf spreader has not previously been determined. With a walk-behind spreader, impeller angle is determined by handle height, thus impeller angle is dependent on how the operator holds the handle. A study of two popular professional walk-behind turf spreaders with two granular products (ground corn cob and prilled ammonium nitrate) demonstrated that angular errors as small as a 5° can cause significant pattern distortion." |
