Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that when the number of premium daily fee facilities began increasing and "commanding premium prices...operators at other courses saw an opportunity to price aggressively, and it worked...Underneath, however, operators at those existing courses did not offer the same dramatic shift in the golf experience that the premium daily fees offered, and expanding expense lines were masked beneath pricing-power strength." Discusses "two basic criteria for spending beyond traditional benchmarks such as the Consumer Price Index": "do these investments significantly improve the customer experience at [the] facility" and "do these investment improve the productivity of [the] staff." States that "with the golf economy showing early signs of pricing strength, which should generate more spending, [superintendents] should think about how and where to invest this money so that is helps significantly improve the golf experience and employee productivity." Suggests that "for superintendents, simple things like conducting time studies and implementing better maintenance standards can improve efficiency without much expense." |
