| Abstract/Contents: | Describes that "the environmental impact from erosion." Describes how "one of the most common problems experienced on golf courses is sediment-laden run-off that leaves the course." Explains that "a variety of products have been developed to deal with erosion and/or sediment control issues." States that "erosion control is an offensive manoeuvre used to prevent detachment of the soil particles thus preventing their transportation and migration...[however] sediment control is more of a defensive safeguard preventing sediment-laden run-off from leaving a site." Explains that "if vegetation alone is unable to reduce erosion or resist erosive forces, the site may require a permanent TRM (Turf Reinforcement Mat)." Concludes that "TRMs can provide a permanent vegetation system resistant to greater water flow by reinforcing the stems and roots...TRMs are especially beneficial on golf courses where ricocheting balls, regular maintenance, liability and hazards associated with hard armour are an issue." |
