Abstract/Contents:Explains that "the increasing coastal population [in Florida] is depleting freshwater supplies in many areas, leading to greater emphasis on water conservation and reuse." Describes the South Central Regional Wastewater System, a treatment plant site which "will serve a 25 square mile area of the mainland...[to] provide total reuse of the effluent." Describes the landscape, acidity, and precipitation of the sod fields in the study. States that "two different watering rates are of concern in the design. These are (1) the amount of water needed by the grass to meet growth and evapotransporation requirements and (2) the additional amount of water which can be applied to the fields solely for the purpose of disposal, without damaging the crop."
