Abstract/Contents: | Discusses possible problems with laboratory soil sampling. States that "most soil laboratories will treat any samples as one unit...[and] the soils and probably the grasses in a sand-based root zone are going to be in most cases quite different from those in a fairway and almost certainly again quite different from those in a turf farm." Describes how to properly take accurate soil samples and recommends sectioning the samples. States that "the major reason for looking carefully at stratified readings through a core sample is that it can show up cases of nutrient being held up in the surface layers and not being distributed in a more or less even way through the profile, especially into the area where the feeder roots operate." |
