Abstract/Contents: | Profiles couchgrass (Cynodon dactylon) and states that "some Australian selections...have been exported to South-East Asia, the United States and New Zealand." Briefly discusses the origins of couchgrass and the search for uniformity within turfgrass varieties. States that "introduction of the Plant Variety Rights Act in 1987 and finalisation [finalization] of the Plant Breeders Rights Act in 1994 gave legislative protection for breeders and owners of turfgrasses against illegal propagation and sale of patented varities." Concludes that "cultivation of so many improved couchgrasses has proved a success story throughout Australia for turf growers and the sportsturf industry alike." |
