Abstract/Contents:Details the effects of late fall turf fertilization, which results "in turf which stays green longer in the fall"; "increased winter hardiness"; "early spring green-up"; and spring fertilization can be delayed until late May/early June. States that "it is essential to stress the importance of timing on the application of the late fall nitrogen application since the prime period producing optimal benefits may only last a couple weeks." Suggests that the best time for application is when the temperature has steadily lowered to ten degrees Celcius. Recommends application rates and fertilizer selections. Mentions environmental risks of late fall fertilization, stating that "potential leaching of soluble substances is increased during these periods."
