Abstract/Contents:Discusses potential water restrictions that may be implemented in Wake County, North Carolina. Explains that "a council committee will begin debating proposed year-round water restrictions, which would limit irrigation to three tims a week regardless of the weather or available water supply. It also will consider the exceptions proposed by... [Raleigh, Carolina and Brier Creek country clubs], which would limit their irrigation based on a percentage of the water they use." Suggests that golf courses might use more water based on the guidelines, stating that "for example, if a golf course can water Tuesday, but rain is in the forecast Wednesday, superintendents said they might irrigate anyway, just in case it doesn't rain. If they could water whenever they wanted to, they likely would wait for rain the next day." States that "golf courses also are looking for ways that can make them less reliant on city water, including using reclaimed water, also called reuse water or effluent, from the city's wastewater treatment plant."
