Abstract/Contents: | Describes a project beginning in 1991, stating that "the original objective was to determine, in an urban simulated environment, the effects of subsoil compaction and topsoil layering on runoff losses of N [nitrogen] and P [phosphorus] and N leaching." Presents observations and results. States that "while there were fairly large differences in N losses from the different fertilizer treatments, none of the differences were statistically significant." Concludes that "five years of research data provide solid evidence that runoff of water from well-maintained turf occurs primarily when soil is frozen." |
