Suggests the potential of "methyl bromide sold under the trade name Dowfume" which provides "seeming good kill of underground Bermuda grass stems and surface growth of all kinds is being obtained with about one pound of Dowfunme to 100 square feet." Mentions that "the secret of success seems to be to provide and keep a tight surface seal for 24 to 48 hours." Estimates "the cost of Dowfume treatment at about 80 cents per 100 square feet, which is much cheaper than removing and replacing Bermuda infested soil."
