Abstract/Contents: | Introduces the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD), a branch of the Palm Beach County government, which "provides water and sewer service to a 177 square mile area of Southern Florida." Explains that "PBCWUD is following Integrated Resources Planning principles in order to develop a holistic approach to ensuring future water availability." States that "PBCWUD's comprehensive planning effort to meet future system demands includes the following: water conservation...irrigation ordinance...xeriscape...ultra low volume plumbing fixtures...conservation rate structure...leak detection program...water conservation education...treatment technologies...wellfield protection...reclaimed water use...[and] aquifer storage and recovery." Concludes that "PBCWUD is pursuing a holistic water supply planning approach incorporating integrated resources planning principles to ensure adequate water to meet long term water supply demands." |
