Abstract/Contents:States that "when landscape irrigation and stormwater systems are integrated, significant reduction in irrigation and stormwater improvements can be realized, significantly reducing capital costs, and reducing the need for the delivery of off-site water." Explains that "to realize the value of stormwater, the following principles should be adhered to: leave stormwater on the surface"; "slow the water down"; and "spread the water out through a network that irrigates a range of landscape types." Describes how some components may be required to direct and manage the water, including runnels, water gardens canals, and natural drainages. Concludes that in order for stormwater to be used in larger scale integrated networks, issues such as an awareness program, demonstration projects, and on-going maintenance of the landscape network should be addressed.
