Abstract/Contents:States that "from a developer's point of view, it often seems impossible to provide a water conserving landscape and maintain the marketability of the property." Profiles Pacific Homes, a residential development company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Details the primary goals for Pacific Homes' communities: "properties that [look] good for both immediate and long-term sales purposes and [are] inexpensive to maintain." Provides findings from THK Associates' approach in transitioning Pacific Homes from high water to low water landscapes in terms of design, plant selection, irrigation, construction, and maintenance. Concludes that the project was able to keep aesthics while having a water conserving landscape and "provide the added benefit of costing much less to maintain than traditional landscapes due to lower maintenance and water demands."
