| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the City of Tampa pilot project, implemented to assess the efficiency of existing landscapes and irrigation systems. States that the "objectives of the pilot 'Landscape Water Audit and Improvement Program' were to: 1) determine irrigation efficiency of apartments, commercial properties or educational facilities, 2) provide a cash match to encourage implementation of suggested changes, and 3) to assess what motivates these customer types to take conservation action." Details project implementation, selection of participating properties, and data collection. Discusses results, participating properties characteristics, landscape characteristics and management practices, irrigation audit, and implementation. Provides eight conclusions, including "the greatest potential for conservation...was to change the irrigation schedule" and "rain shut-off devices were the most popular change requiring out-of-pocket expenses." |
