Discusses the maintenance of athletic fields and how it has helped Andrews' company, stating that "athletic fields generate more income...partly because larger equipment can cover more ground more quickly." Describes maintenance practices, stating that "Andrews applies fertilizers intensively and frequently. He also does core aeration at least once a year and overseeds once a year." Mentions differences between schools and parks, and professional fields, stating that "the pros can afford to install fields...[compared] to putting greens - and replace them a couple of times a year. Residential and commercial customers pay whatever it takes to keep their lawns beautiful. But schools and parks have severe budget constraints." |
