| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the impact of September 11th on the golf industry, stating that "9/11 had serious impacts on [the] industry, jast as it did nearly every aspect of the US economy." States that "the elimination of dues deductibility was one major factor in the shift from golf being largely private club dominated to being public facility driven." Suggests that the 15 year span in which there was "a 42 percent increase in supply" from building new courses while "over the same period, play (demand) grew only 19 percent" is partially to blame for the industry's struggles. Explains that the golf market is flat, not declining and mentions that "in this economy, most established industries would kill for that." |
