Abstract/Contents:Suggests that "when passing through, a flock of Canada geese are a beautiful sight. When large flocks take up residence, however, the effect may present management headaches for the landscape/turfgrass professional." Describes problems related to geese, including "their copious production of feces...[that] make the area an unpleasant place to picnic, play or golf." States that "a greater reproductive rate combined with lower mortality has resulted in rapidly growing resident [geese] populations at the same time that the wild migratory [geese] populations are in decline." Lists several methods for geese control, including scare devices, exclusion, repellents, and egg addling. Concludes that "stopping public feeding of the geese and limiting their movement between water and land will give substantial relief at many sites."
